Constellations
Taking pictures of constellations is good place to start astrophotography as they just need a camera and a tripod. To bring out dim backgrounds such as the Milky Way requires advanced image processing techniques.

My first constellation photo was taken early in 1975 from my backyard in Riverside, California.

This image of the southern Milky Way, from Alpha and Beta Centaurus through the Southern Cross to Eta Carina was taken from Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory on June 6, 2015.

The image of the constellation Cygnus was taken on June 23, 2022 using a Canon camera modified to show more light from the red Hydrogen Alpha band.

This composite image of Sagittarius, Scorpio, and the center of the Milky Way was taken on April 22, 2023 from Uluru in central Australia.

This image of the Milky Way going from horizon to horizon was taken with a full frame 8mm fisheye lens from Uluru in Australia on June 23, 2023.
