1999 Turkey Total Solar Eclipse
An Eclipse in Diyarbakir
This was my first eclipse expedition with TravelQuest, the successor to Travel Bug. In August 1999 I flew to Turkey where we visited many of the tourist attractions in Istanbul, then when down the coast to Izmir. There we visited Sardis, Ephesus, Aphrodisias, and Pamukkale. Later we visited Ankara and Cappadocia, before traveling on to Diyarbakir. We saw the 2m 9s eclipse at Basnik, a small Kurdish town.
