2009 China Total Solar Eclipse
The Wuhan 4 - Escape from Shanghai
In July 2009, TravelQuest took us on another tour of China. We started in Bejing and then flew to Shanghai where we were to see the eclipse. However as anticipated, clouds threatened viewing the eclipse. So, four of us left the group and flew to the airport in Wuhan, which was on the centerline of the eclipse. We lost a little time, but still had 5m 28s of totality. After viewing it from the airport, we flew back in time for a celebratory dinner in Shanghai. Afterwards, several of us went on to Hong Kong.
